This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Digital Art and Design Specialist Certificate. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn a​ Digital Art and Design Specialist Certificate. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official certificate requirements.

The certificate is designed to develop the hands-on skills and conceptual art knowledge necessary for a graduate to advance in career paths appropriate to their own interests and abilities. The program will allow students to gain skills in using industry standard equipment and software and will stress the role of digital art and design for producing professional graphics for the web, animation, and video games. Courses that complete the Digital Art and Design Specialist Certificate are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.

SEMESTER 1                                          

ARTC 1305 – Basic Graphic Design

ARTC 1302 – Digital Imaging I

CHOOSE ONE:

  • ANIMATION AND MODELING EMPHASIS ELECTIVE (one course) * OR
  • PRINT/WEB EMPHASIS ELECTIVE (one course) * 

SEMESTER 1 ACTION ITEMS

  1. Meet with your advisor to confirm academic and career goals before the end of the semester.
  2. Meet with a career advisor or coach to research your career options and opportunities for job shadowing.
  3. Meet with your faculty or advisor for assistance in selecting Emphasis elective courses.
