“I became interested in the Child Development program because I wanted to increase my knowledge in order to provide a quality preschool experience for young children. The best part of my Dallas College experience was my professor, Nancy Beaver. She was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about teaching. Dallas College helped my career because I was able to not only become a director of a childcare center but also complete my bachelor’s degree. I would highly recommend that other students attend Dallas College; it was a life-changing experience for me.

” LaShonda Y. Brown earned a Child Development Associate Skills Achievement Award and holds a bachelor’s degree from Dallas Baptist University. As the former executive director of the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children, she worked with various organizations on issues affecting young children, families and professionals. She also previously worked in the Office of Early Childhood Coordination managing the Healthy Child Care Texas Initiative.

“What surprised me the most about Dallas College was that a Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education and Teaching is offered. Both my mother and father went to college but never earned a degree, which means I will be the first to earn a bachelor’s degree.”
