Training for Free

Yes, it’s true! These programs are absolutely free. They are funded by special grants that aim to help people in the community.

Free High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) Prep

For most people, deciding to drop out of high school isn’t easy. Whatever the reason, it’s never too late to earn your GED. The WorkReadyU program has a team of caring instructors. They will help you increase your academic skills with small GED classes and hands-on learning. You can move forward at your own pace and choose a class that best fits your schedule.

Free Job Training and Career Prep

Do you have work experience but lack the skills you need to advance? Under WorkReadyU, you can develop the skills you need to launch a successful career. Weekend and evening classes are available and may include paid internships. All trainees receive free job placement assistance.

Free ESL Classes / Clases de inglés gratis

Are poor English skills keeping you from reaching your goals? WorkReadyU can help you improve your English skills so you can attend college, get a good job or advance your career. Students who qualify receive free ESL classes, regardless of residency or visa status.

Training for Veterans or the Military-Connected

In addition to the variety of resources that Dallas College offers our veterans and military-connected career seekers, there are also programs aimed at getting them trained and into a career quickly!

Free Training for Military/Veterans

An estimated 300,000 service members including Guard and Reserves will leave the military each year over the next five years. That's where NPower comes in. NPower is committed to building brighter futures for active military, veterans and their spouses by providing access and opportunity to tech skills to help them achieve their potential.

Industry 4.0 Academy

The Industry 4.0 Academy program is an initiative to assist transitioning military service members into cutting-edge robotics and manufacturing jobs. Starting with the existing skills service members gained while in service, we provide supplemental training as necessary to meet industry requirements. We then connect pre-trained service members with our industry partners who are hiring.

Continuing Education (CE) Courses and Certificates

Continuing education provides unique educational opportunities to stimulate the mind, promote professional advancement and encourage the pursuit of personal interests. These courses increase your knowledge and skills. You will not earn “traditional” credits toward a degree, although you may earn Continuing Education Units or CEUs (which will appear on a transcript). Some courses may last only a couple of hours; others may meet over several weeks. Some courses are available online.

With more than 100 majors featuring one- and two-year certificates and degrees, we strive to help you build a rewarding and fulfilling career. We also offer Core credit courses that are guaranteed to transfer to any public Texas college or university.
