STEVE DESHAZO: The Bits & Bites food and wine festival celebrates Dallas culinary culture.
STUDENT 1: I love it. I get to experience it with my family and friends every year.
STUDENT 2: I'm excited to be here and meet all these amazing chefs that Dallas has.
STUDENT 3: I'm meeting a lot of new people, a lot of new chefs. I'm getting to see a side of the culinary world that I’ve never seen.
STUDENT 4: I enjoy meeting new people, networking.
STUDENT 5: Meeting, connecting, learning - it's awesome. I really enjoy that part.
CHANCELLOR LONON: What an amazing opportunity to showcase the work of our students, our culinary faculty and the culinary community all coming here together to tell the Dallas College story in a much, much different way.
STEVE DESHAZO: Our students are in the center of every single thing that we do.
STUDENT 6: We have an amazing group of culinary instructors and pastry instructors that are there to help you learn and grow your skills.
STUDENT 7: There's a lot of opportunities for a lot of groups of people that sometimes are not used to seeing.
STUDENT 4: I love how inclusive and diverse the program is.
STUDENT 8: You can study bakery pastry, you can do chef culinary and also dining room services.
STUDENT 9: I like that it's a small class in most of my classes. That allows the teachers to really get up and personal.
STUDENT 10: I enjoy the atmosphere. The students in the class.
STUDENT 3: Just being around and learning new things because I'm a returning student after about ten years. It feels good to have resources available for you that you can understand and recall back to you.
STUDENT 7: Being a Hispanic woman in this country, who came with nothing and always had a dream of having an education, I think Dallas College has really opened up that opportunity for me.
STUDENT 11: After facing discrimination because of how I looked, it’s nice to be able to just do what I can and show everybody that my skills are what I’m worth and not how I look.
STUDENT 8: I’m one of the oldest students at Dallas College, but I think that I would be able to break the barrier to let a lot of older people know that it’s never too late.
STUDENT 12: After school, I plan on going to work at a bakery with somebody who’s been doing it for awhile.
STUDENT 5: I’m really passionate about looking for an exchange program, going overseas and learning different types of culinary.
STUDENT 11: I’d love to be a private chef or cater. I just want to keep it small and intimate, and always be in the kitchen myself.
STUDENT 9: Mainly I want to get more experience and I think that Dallas College will definitely help with that in getting jobs or internships.
CHANCELLOR LONON: We are so proud of each and every one of our students. We‘re so proud of the partnerships that we have. And we thank you each for being here.
