This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Technician Level II Certificate in Air Conditioning within the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology program. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn the Technician Level II Certificate in Air Conditioning Certificate. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College.
This program is designed to train students to meet employment requirements in the field of air conditioning. This will include the installation, repair and maintenance of common air conditioning equipment. Included in this program is the study of residential and commercial air conditioners, heat pumps, gas and electric furnaces, humidifiers, and system design and selection. Throughout the entire program, an emphasis is placed on current techniques used by service technicians. See catalog for official certificate requirements. Courses that complete the certificate, the Heating and Air Conditioning Occupational Skills Award (HOSA), the Rising HVAC Technician Occupational Skills Award (ROSA), the Rising HVAC Technician Certificate (RC), the and the Technician Level I Certificate in Air Conditioning (TC) are noted below.

SEMESTER 1
HART 1401 – Basic Electricity for HVAC Course is taught in a 5-week format. (Course also applies to ROSA, RC, TC)
HART 1407 – Refrigeration Principles Course is taught in a 5-week format. (Course also applies to ROSA, RC, TC)
HART 1310 – HVAC Shop Practices and Tools (Course also applies to ROSA, RC, TC)
ENGL 1301 – Composition I This is a Core course. Must earn a grade of “C" or higher.
SEMESTER 1 ACTION ITEMS
