This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Technician Level I Certificate in Air Conditioning within the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology program. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn a Residential – Technician I Certificate. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College.

This program introduces students to the refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, and heat pump principles necessary to begin an air conditioning or refrigeration career as a HVACR technician's helper. Commonly used tools and instruments are introduced, and safety is emphasized. The preferred program alternative is for the students to experience a cooperative work experience at the program's culmination. See catalog for official certificate requirements. Courses that complete the certificate, the Rising HVAC Technician Occupational Skills Award (ROSA), the Heating and Air Conditioning Occupational Skills Award (HOSA) and the Rising HVAC Technician Certificate (RC) are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.
