This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Diesel and Heavy Equipment- Preventive Maintenance Technician Level I Certificate. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn the Diesel and Heavy Equipment-Preventive Maintenance Technician Certificate. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. The Preventive Maintenance Technician curriculum is designed to train students to become entry-level maintenance technicians. Training is focused on maintenance procedures and diesel-powered vehicle systems inspection and operations. Courses that complete the certificate, the Diesel Preventive Maintenance Technician Occupational Skills Award (OSA), and Diesel Preventive Maintenance Advanced Technician Occupational Skills Award (AOSA) are noted below.
Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites, as long as the student completes the TSI waiver form prior to enrollment.
