This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing Geographic Information Systems Technology. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn a Geographic Information Systems Technician Advanced Technical Certificate. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. Visit the catalog for official certificate requirements.

Admission to the Advanced Technical Certificate Program is by completion of the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Geographic Information Systems Specialist AAS.
The Geographic Information Systems Technology Program Advanced Technical Certificate would prepare graduates to perform duties of a GIS analyst (upon completion of the advanced certificate).  Students would be able to use a variety of innovative GIS environments (server technologies, advanced coding development, and artificial intelligence) and solutions; steward and configure services for varied spatial data; monitor and optimize database structures; and automate advanced workflows.  The program combines classroom and laboratory experience. Courses that complete the certificate are noted below.

GISC 2404 – Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Design with Vector Analysis This is the capstone course for this award.
