The purpose of this program is to prepare students for entry-level employment as an automotive technician. This program reflects a building-block approach from simple to complex and includes theory, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of automobiles. Emphasis is placed on the operational theory, practical skills, and accepted shop procedures as they relate the vehicle electrical components. Courses that complete the occupational skills award are noted below.
Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites, as long as the student completes the TSI waiver form prior to enrollment.

AUMT 2321 – Automotive Electrical Diagnosis and Repair This is the capstone course for this award.
