This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing a Commercial Construction Assistant Superintendent Certificate. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn the Commercial Construction Assistant Superintendent Certificate. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official certificate requirements.
Commercial construction assistant superintendents work in all phases of the construction business: public and private projects; small multi-family projects to the largest of skyscrapers and industrial projects; rural highways to major interstates. Working closely with architects, engineers, owners, and the various contractors on a job, the construction manager's duties are varied, challenging, and rewarding both emotionally and financially. Optionally, graduates can go into estimating, field engineering, project scheduling, and other management levels both at the general contractor level and for specialty contractors such as mechanical, plumbing, and electrical contractors. Courses that complete this certificate, the Rising Construction Manager Occupational Skills Award (OSA) and Rising Construction Manager Certificate (C) are noted below.
Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.
