This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Automotive Technology – Automotive Career Technician associate degree. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Automotive Technology – Automotive Career Technician. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours (15 hours) required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official degree requirements.
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Career Technician Associate is nationally recognized and certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). The purpose of this program is to prepare students for entry level employment as an automotive technician. This program reflects a building-block approach from simple to complex and includes theory, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of automobiles, including late model vehicles with electronic systems. Courses that complete the degree, the Chassis Service Technician Occupational Skills Award (COSA), the Chassis Service Technician Certificate (CS), the Electronics and Climate Controls Technician Occupational Skills Award (EOSA), the Electronics and Climate Controls Technician Certificate (EC), the Engine Repair and Performance Technician Occupational Skills Award (ROSA), the Engine Repair and Performance Technician Certificate (ER), the Transmission Service Technician Occupational Skills Award (TOSA), and the Transmission Service Technician Certificate (TS) are noted below.
