This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Auto Body Painter Occupational Skills Award. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn an Auto Body Painter Occupational Skills Award. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official certificate requirements.

Instruction leading to positions in the auto collision industry in the area of paint refinishing. Courses include surface preparation, overall refinishing, and paint mixing and tinting. Students receive training using lab modules, live projects, and cooperative work experience. Courses that complete the occupational skills award are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites, as long as the student completes the TSI waiver form prior to enrollment.

ABDR 1458 – Intermediate Refinishing

ABDR 1431 – Basic Refinishing

ABDR 2353 – Color Analysis and Paint Matching This is the capstone course for this award.
