This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Plumbing Technology Certificate. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn a Level II Certificate in Plumbing Technology. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official certificate requirements.

This program will teach the student plumbing skills that can be applied to residential and commercial plumbing systems. These skills will be obtained to serve in a variety of work environments where plumbing maintenance is needed. The student will complete a cooperative education course that stands as the capstone of the program. This capstone will allow valuable experience in the industry. This certificate combines the Rising Plumber and Tradesman certificates that can be applied towards the AAS in Plumbing. Courses that complete this certificate, the Rising Plumber Occupational Skills Award (OSA), the Rising Plumber Certificate (RP) and Tradesman Certificate (TC) are noted below.

SEMESTER 1

PFPB 1308 – Basic Pipefitting Skills (Course also applies to OSA, RP)

PFPB 1321 – Plumbing Maintenance and Repair (Course also applies to OSA, RP, TC)

PFPB 1373 – Introduction to the Plumbing Trade (Course also applies to OSA, RP)

ENGL 1301 Composition I This is a Core course. You must earn a grade of "C" or better.

SEMESTER 1 ACTION ITEMS

  1. Meet with your success coach to confirm academic and career goals before the end of the semester.
  2. Meet with your success coach to research your career options and opportunities for job shadowing.
  3. Meet with a faculty advisor or success coach regarding placement for the Cooperative course.

  • PFPB 1382 – Cooperative Education-Plumbing Technology/Plumber (Course also applies to OSA, RP, TC) OR
  • OSHT 1307 Construction Site Safety and Health (Course also applies to RP)

SEMESTER 2 ACTION ITEMS

  1. Meet with your success coach to request an official program of study audit and confirm or update your academic and career path and program of study.
  2. After reviewing your program of study, meet with your success coach to apply for the Rising Plumber Occupational Skills Award and the Rising Plumber Certificate.
