This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing Interior Design. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours (15 hours) required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official degree requirements.
More than just decorators, designers draw from many disciplines — including architecture, product design and environmental psychology — to plan the functionality and interior environment of buildings. Designers need to understand construction, furniture, fixtures, equipment, materials, accessibility and building codes. The A.A.S. degree will prepare you to work as a design assistant with the potential to realize full professional status and independent practice. Courses that complete the degree are noted below. ALL INDS courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better to advance through the program. Students must also pass a computer literacy exam to enroll in the Interior Design Program.
