This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing a degree in Fire Protection Technology. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn the Fire Science Certificate. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official certificate requirements.

The Fire Science Certificate prepares the student to function with the necessary ancillary knowledge to advance into supervisory and/or management level positions. The program is designed for students employed or those who desire employment in the fire service. All credits earned in this program may be applied toward the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire Protection Technology.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.

  3. Meet with a faculty advisor or success coach for placement in the Cooperative Education Course.
