This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing entrepreneurship. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn the Entrepreneurial Foundation Certificate. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. Visit the catalog for official certificate requirements.

This is a Level I certificate program in Entrepreneurship that provides students with business concepts specific to the principles of entrepreneurship. This includes starting, financing, operating, and growing a business. The program covers essential management, decision-making and problem-solving skills, preparing a business plan/business model canvas, accounting, financial needs, staffing, marketing strategies, and legal issues. Students will participate in a practicum or field experience) to provide networking and business support opportunities. Courses that complete this certificate are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.

BUSI 1301 – Business Principles

BUSG 1341 – Small Business Financing

MRKG 1311 – Principles of Marketing

BMGT 2303 – Problem Solving and Decision Making

BUSG 1166 – Practicum (or Field Experience) – Business/Commerce

BUSG 2309 – Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship This is the capstone course for this award.

SEMESTER 1 ACTION ITEMS

  1. Meet with your success coach to confirm academic and career goals before the end of the semester.
  2. Meet with your success coach to research your career options and opportunities for job shadowing.
  3. Meet with your success coach to request an official program of study audit and confirm or update your academic/career path and program of study.
  4. Meet with your success coach to enroll in the Practicum course.
  5. Meet with your success coach to apply for the Entrepreneurial Foundation Certificate.
