This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the A+ Occupational Skills Award. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn an A+ Occupational Skills Award. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official certificate requirements.

This sequence is for students interested in A+ Certification. Completers will learn how a PC works and will also be able to write specifications for PCs, perform routine maintenance and be able to troubleshoot and repair simple problems. It also covers all topics in the industry standard CompTIA A+ certification for computer professionals and will help prepare students for the A+ certification examination. Prerequisite: Basic understanding of personal computers and operating systems. Courses that complete the A+ Occupational Skills Award are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.

ITSC 1305 – Introduction to PC Operating Systems This course is the capstone experience for this award.
