This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Computer Information Technology Programming Awards. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn the Oracle Professional Skills Achievement Award. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official certificate requirements.

This sequence is for students who wish to prepare for the Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification exam. At this skill level, Oracle Professionals have knowledge that will allow them to perform network administration duties of backup and recovery. Courses that complete the certificate are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.

CERTIFICATE MINIMUM: 6 SEMESTER CREDIT HOURS

PREREQUISITE

Completion of ITSE 1346 and ITSE 1345/1445, as well as

basic understanding of personal computers and operating systems as obtained in ITSC 1401 or BCIS 1405 or COSC 1301 as well as problem solving, logic structures, and relational database concepts as obtained in ITSE 1429, and either ITSW 1307/1407 or equivalent experience approved by designated Information Technology personnel.

  • ITSE 2356  Oracle Database Administration I OR
  • ITSE 2456 – Oracle Database Administration I

CHOOSE ONE:   

  • ITSE 2358  Oracle Database Administration II This course is the capstone experience. OR
  • ITSE 2458 – Oracle Database Administration II This course is the capstone experience.

SEMESTER 1 ACTION ITEMS
