This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Open Source Level II Certificate. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn an Open Source Certificate in Computer Information Technology (Web/Internet Services Awards). Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. This certificate develops skills and knowledge needed to work in industries that use Open Source Technology for desktop and web application development. Companies such as Oracle, Novell, Apple, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM have made significant investments in open source technology.  Courses that complete the certificate are noted below. PREREQUISITE

Basic understanding of personal computers and operating systems as obtained in ITSC 1401 or BCIS 1405 or COSC 1301 and problem solving and logic structures as obtained in ITSE 1429 or equivalent experience approved by designated Information Technology personnel.

ENGL 1301 – Composition I This is a Core course. Must earn a grade of “C" or higher.
