This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Computer-Aided Design Mechanical Drafting Certificate. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn a Computer-Aided Design Mechanical Drafting Certificate. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official certificate requirements.

This certificate program prepares a student to become certified as an entry-level CADD operator and enter the work force. Coursework includes the creation of 2D and 3D CADD drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other modeling software in support of industry trends and technology advancements. Courses that complete this Certificate are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites, as long as the student completes the TSI waiver form prior to enrollment.

DFTG 1325 – Blueprint Reading and Sketching Mechanical based coursework

DFTG 1405 – Introduction to Technical Drawing Mechanical based coursework

DFTG 1409 – Basic Computer-Aided Drafting

SEMESTER 1 ACTION ITEMS

CHOOSE ONE:

 

  • DFTG 2380 – Cooperative Education-Drafting and Design Technology/Technician OR
  • Technical Elective (one course)*

DFTG 1445 – Parametric Modeling and Design This is the capstone course for this award.

 

* Technical Elective must be selected from the following: DFTG 1329, DFTG 1333, DFTG 1358, DFTG 2323, DFTG 2432 or DFTG 2435.
