This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing an Advanced Technical Certificate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn an Advanced Technical Certificate (ATC) in Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official certificate requirements.
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program is an advanced technical certificate program with a competitive admissions process. The MRI program is a one-year program that prepares students to function as an MRI Technologist. The program provides intensive didactic and clinical training in the medical specialty of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. A minimum grade requirement of "C" or better is required in all MRIT courses. The MRI technologist performs examinations using magnetism and radio frequency to visualize internal organs such as the heart, abdominal organs and brain. It may also be used to visualize bony structures such as the spine, skull, and extremities. Graduates will be eligible to take the MRI Registry Exam offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Courses that complete the Certificate are noted below.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Applicant must meet the conditions of one of the listed Application Eligibility categories. Detailed information is in the application packet.
- Applicant must have earned an Associate or Bachelor' s degree in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy or Diagnostic Medical Sonography and hold a current registry/certification credential in that healthcare area. Technologists who have earned a hospital-based certificate in Radiography, hold a current ARRT certification and who have completed a previous degree or can demonstrate junior level standing are also eligible.
