This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Cisco Networking Assistant Skills Achievement Award. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn a Cisco Networking Assistant Skills Achievement Award. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. This sequence is for students who wish to develop skills in managing traffic and networking devices in local area networks (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) services, wireless communication, and management. Upon completion, the student will have acquired skills needed to prepare for certification as a Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA). Courses that complete the Cisco Networking Assistant Skills Achievement Award are noted below.​​

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.

CERTIFICATE MINIMUM: 8 SEMESTER CREDIT HOURS

PREREQUISITE 

Basic understanding of personal computers and operating systems as obtained in ITSC 1401 or BCIS 1405 or COSC 1301 or equivalent experiences and basic understanding of local area networks design and protocols and basic router configuration obtained in Cisco 1 or Cisco 2 or equivalent ​​experience approved by designated Information Technology personnel​.

ITCC 2420 – CCNA 3: Enterprise Networking, Security, and Automation

  • ITSC 1416 – Linux Installation and Configuration OR
  • ITSE 1402 – Computer Programming             ​
