This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing Business Administration. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn a Business Operations Generalist Certificate. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official certificate requirements.

The Business Operations Generalist Certificate focuses on developing general core foundation skills and abilities critical to working within business organizational environments. This certificate includes understanding and applying essential knowledge from areas including accounting, business, and technology crucial to business operations. Students will hone essential business skills and participate in a cooperative learning experience to broaden their understanding of the work environment. Courses that complete the Business Operations Generalist Certificate are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards but must meet course prerequisites.

  • POFT 1301 – Business English OR
  • POFT 2312 – Business Correspondence and Communication

POFT 1321 – Business Math
POFI 1301 – Computer Applications I
BUSI 1301 – Business Principles
ELECTIVE – Any ONE three-credit or four-credit hour course*.
BUSG 1380 – Cooperative Education-Business/Commerce, General This is the capstone course for this award.
 
*Elective must be selected from any industry-aligned certification course from the following: ACNT 1311, BMGT 1309, ITSW 1407, ITSW 1307 POFI 1349 or POFI 2301

SEMESTER 1 ACTION ITEMS

  3. Meet with a faculty or success coach regarding placement for the Cooperative Education course.
