This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing Networking Security Awards. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn a SQL Server Certificate. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official certificate requirements.

This certificate provides students with the knowledge and skills required to install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot the client-server database management system of Microsoft SQL Server, and the preparatory training for the Microsoft Certified IT Professional Database Administrator exam. Courses that complete the certificate are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites, as long as the student completes the TSI waiver form prior to enrollment.

PREREQUISITES

Basic understanding of personal computers and operating systems as obtained in ITSC 1401 or BCIS 1405 or COSC 1301 and ITSC 1405, and problem solving and logic structures as obtained in ITSE 1429 or equivalent experience approved by designated Information Technology personnel.

ITNW 1425 – Fundamentals of Networking Technologies

ITMT 1457 – Administering a Windows Server Operating System

CHOOSE ONE:   

  • ITMT 1458 – Windows Client Operating System OR
  • ITNW 1408 – Implementing and Supporting Client Operating Systems
