The guided pathway in Nursing – Field of Study will provide a foundation for you to move on toward a fulfilling nursing career. An Associate of Science (A.S.) degree with courses in this pathway prepares you to transfer to a university to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at a university, which opens the door to a career in research, case management, hospital administration, pharmaceutical sales and many more areas.
This pathway is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing Nursing. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn an A.S. degree with a Field of Study in Nursing, which will increase your chances of transfer to West Coast University (WCU) to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours (15 hours) required for graduation through instruction Dallas College. See the catalog for official degree requirements.

This program focuses on the preparation of nurses who are life-long learners and critical thinkers, and upon completion of the program, will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensing examination to become a Registered Nurse.
A total of 120 semester credits are required to earn the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN), including the completion of general education courses, lower and upper division didactic theory courses, and clinical experience. Our program can be completed in 24 months and allows you to transfer up to 60 of your Dallas College credits after verification.

West Coast University uses a semester system. There are three semesters throughout the year with five total start dates (Spring I and II, Summer I, Fall I and II). Each semester is split into two ten-week terms. Students take two courses per term. Visit the West Coast University academic calendar for additional information.

PATH 370 – Pathophysiology RNSG 1311 Nursing Pathophysiology may be taken at Dallas College and transferred to West Coast University. This is a required General Education course to be taken prior to entering Nursing Core at West Coast University.
