Information technology is one of the largest and fastest-growing job sectors across the globe. The rapid spread of computer-based technologies means that work is available in: businesses of all kinds and sizes, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, schools and universities, and hospitals and health care facilities. An Associate of Science (A.S.) degree with courses in this pathway prepares you to transfer to a university to earn a bachelor's degree that opens the door to a career as a software developer, information security analyst, database administrator and more.
This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing Information Technology. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn an A.S. degree, which will increase your chances of transfer to the University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours (15 hours) required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. Courses that complete the degree are noted below.
