This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Hospitality, Exhibitions and Event Management program associate degree. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Hospitality, Exhibitions and Event Management. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours (15 hours) required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official degree requirements.
The A.A.S. degree program in Hospitality, Exhibitions and Event Management is designed to develop the necessary knowledge and skills so that a graduate may advance in career paths appropriate to an individual's particular interests, in the hospitality and events industry. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council) the hospitality and tourism industry provides one in 11 jobs globally, accounting for about a tenth of total gross domestic product (GDP). The DFW area is one of the top convention locations in the U.S., so skilled meeting and event planners are in high demand. Hospitality is a growing segment of the industry where employees quickly move into leaderships positions. All Richland College HAMG course are offered online to accommodate busy work schedules. Courses that complete the degree, the Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism (HT) and Certificate in Meetings (CM) are noted below.
