Biochemistry is involved in all human activities, from growing and cooking food to launching a space shuttle. Understanding at least basic chemistry is critical for medical fields, most science-related professions, and diverse careers from industry to government and academia. The guided pathway in Biochemistry will provide a foundation for you to move on toward a career in the fuel industry, toxicology labs, and education. An Associate of Science (A.S.) degree with courses in this pathway prepares you to transfer to a university to earn a bachelor's degree that opens the door to a career in the medical field, engineering, research, industry, renewable energy and many more areas.

This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing Biochemistry. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn an A.S. degree, which will increase your chances of transfer to Texas Woman's University (TWU) to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (ACS Certification). Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours (15 hours) required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. Courses that complete the degree are noted below. See catalog for official degree requirements.

Visit www.dcccd.edu/transfer and select “Transfer from Dallas College," then click on TWU to view more information about transferring to that institution. Speak with your success coach to choose courses that will help you to transfer to TWU.
