The Associate of Arts in Teaching (A.A.T.) is a Board-approved collegiate degree program consisting of lower-division courses intended for transfer to baccalaureate programs that lead to initial Texas teacher certification. This plan is for those who are interested in earning certification to teach Early Childhood through Grade 6 (EC-6), 4-8 grades in a generalist classroom setting, or Special Education at all levels.

This pathway is an example course sequence for students interested in teaching EC-6, 4-8, or Special Ed EC-12. Following this pathway will help you earn an A.A.T. degree EC-6 or an A.A.T. 4-8/Special Education EC-12, which will increase your chances of transferring to Texas A&M University-Commerce (TAMU-Commerce) to earn the Bachelor of Science – Teacher Certification, EC-6 Generalist degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours (15 hours) required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official degree requirements.

Visit www.dcccd.edu/transfer and select "Transfer from Dallas College," then click on Texas A&M University-Commerce to view more information about transferring to that institution. Speak with your success coach to choose courses that will help you to transfer to TAMU-Commerce.
