This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Web Application Development Level I Certificate. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn a certificate in Web Application Development. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. See catalog for official certificate requirements.

This certificate emphasizes object-oriented programming tools to construct interactive multimedia rich websites compatible with a variety of delivery methodologies including traditional web browsers as well as handheld mobile devices.  Areas of study may include object-oriented programming, handheld device SDKs, database driven web solutions, and multimedia interface web presentation. Courses that complete the certificate are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites, as long as the student completes the TSI waiver form prior to enrollment.

PREREQUISITES  

A working knowledge and understanding of personal computers and operating systems obtained in ITSC 1401 or BCIS 1405 or COSC 1301 or equivalent experience approved by Information Technology personnel.

Interactive Web Design Emphasis: select THREE (3) courses from the following – ARTC 1302, IMED 1301, IMED 1345, IMED 1491

Web Programming Emphasis:  select THREE (3) courses from the following – GAME 1409, IMED 1491, INEW 1440, INEW 2434, ITSE 2402, ITSE 2409

Handheld Device Emphasis:  select THREE (3) courses from the following – ARTV 2470, ARTV 2471, IMED 1491, ITSE 2410
