This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing Multimedia Web Design. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Multimedia Technology-Multimedia Web Design. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours (15 hours) required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official degree requirements.​

The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Multimedia Web Design is designed to enable students to participate as creative and resourceful members of a web development team. Upon successful completion of this program, the student will be experienced in creating responsive rich media websites along with creating and editing digital art, motion graphics, video, animations, graphics, and audio for use on the Internet, print and video. This degree provides an external learning experience. Courses that complete the degree also complete the Web Designer-Multimedia Level 1 (WD) Certificate and the Visual Design Level I (VD) Certificate and are noted below.

SEMESTER 1

IMED 1316 – Web Design I (Course also applies to WD, VD)

ENGL 1301 – Composition I This is a Core course. Must earn a grade of "C" or better.

ARTC 1359 – Visual Design for New Media (Course also applies to VD)

CHOOSE ONE:

  • ARTC 1305 – Basic Graphic Design* (Courses also apply to WD, VD)

CHOOSE ONE:  

  • ARTS 2348 – Digital Media (Courses also apply to WD, VD)

  • ARTS 1316 – Drawing I Required for Visual Design Certificate. OR
  • ITSE 1311 – Beginning Web Programming Required for the Web Designer Certificate.

ARTC 2305 – Digital Imaging II This is the capstone experience for VD. (Course also applies to VD)

HUMANITIES/FINE ARTS ELECTIVE** This is a Core course.

CHOOSE ONE:*

  • ARTC 1317 – Design Communication I (Course also applies to WD, VD) OR
  • ARTV 1345 – 3-D Modeling & Rendering Option for VD and Degree but does not count toward WD.

  • SPCH 1311 – Introduction to Speech Communication This is a Core course.OR
  • SPCH 1315 – Public Speaking This is a Core course.

SEMESTER 4 ACTION ITEMS

  1. After reviewing your degree plan and program of study, apply for Graduation.
  2. Meet with your advisor to apply for the Multimedia Technology-Multimedia Web Design A.A.S., Visual Design Level I Certificate, and Web Designer-Multimedia Level I Certificate.
  3. Sign up for Commencement.
