What Are The Different Course Types?

College Credit Courses

College credit courses:

  • Apply toward getting your college degree and many professional certificates.
  • Give you the option of transferring credit to another college or university to finish a degree. Core Curriculum courses are guaranteed to transfer to any public Texas college or university.
  • Count toward earning an associate degree or credit certificate that allows you to head straight to work.

Continuing Education (CE) Courses

Continuing education (CE) courses :

  • Do not offer college credit and do not count toward a full degree, but they may apply toward industry credentials, workplace certificates or your GED.
  • Improve your personal or workforce skills.
  • Can also be taken just for fun, with options ranging from art to yoga.
  • Are also referred to as noncredit courses, because they do not offer college credit.
