Tetsuya Umebayashi
Vice Provost of the School of Health Sciences
Dr. Tetsuya Umebayashi is a motivated nurse-turned-educator whose goal is to help cultivate a skilled and compassionate health care workforce. His experience in the medical field has enabled him to contribute effectively to the advancement of health sciences education and practice.
Dr. Umebayashi currently serves as the vice provost of Dallas College's School of Health Sciences. In his role, he oversees the school's academic and administrative functions, utilizing strategic planning, faculty and staff development and quality enhancement to prepare future health care professionals for their careers.
Despite the challenges in health care, Dr. Umebayashi considers the field to be incredibly rewarding. He makes it his mission each day to help others understand the impact they can make through a career in health care, spreading the message to never underestimate the power of kindness.
When Dr. Umebayashi isn't brainstorming new ways to encourage a career in health care, you can find him rooting himself in cultural exchange and education. Over the past 11 years, Dr. Umebayashi has hosted nine exchange students, and he cherishes his experiences showing these students a whole new world. He looks forward to sharing his passion for the health care industry with the community.
