Dr. Macario Hernandez is an authentic leader passionate about community engagement and student success. Having spent the first part of his career in K-12 education, Dr. Hernandez took the leap into higher education to make a larger impact across the community — and that risk paid off.

Dr. Hernandez is currently the president at Dallas College Mountain View Campus, where he once attended community college. In his role, he balances three areas: campus culture and climate, sector lead work in aviation and external relations with the community. Despite his wide focus, he keeps students at the center of everything.

Dr. Hernandez’s roots run deep in the Dallas community. From a young age, Dr. Hernandez was immersed in the world of community organizing — a passion ignited by his father. They engaged in civic engagement and advocacy together, making a difference throughout their city.

When Dr. Hernandez isn’t sparking conversations with students, faculty and staff in the halls at Mountain View, you can find him embracing the beauty of nature, whether hiking trails or casting fishing lines. He looks forward to highlighting the importance of staying connected to students and the community.
